I have never been a fussy eater. In fact, I would eat anything you put in front of me, and chances are, would enjoy it tremendously. Here are the dishes, that challenged my taste buds the most:
The advantages of cycling are numerous, the main one being, that with its help I discovered so many places purely by chance. One of such places became Koh Surin national park. It was a highlight of my trip, the most favourite bit of the whole trip for more reasons, than one.
I like Thailand. In fact I liked it there so much, that I decided to extend my stay by one week. Normally people get a 30-day permission to stay on arrival, unless they apply in advance at the embassy and request a 60-day visa. If you do get a regular short-term permission, but wish to stay longer, than there a a few options available.
Trains in Thailand are late. No, the are terribly late. I heard about it, but I was thinking:”Ok, I shall just sit for half an hour with a book in a shade. Wats the great deal?!” How about 3 hours late? Trains leave on time from their starting point, but as the journey progresses, they accumulate lateness. It is so habitual, that many stations have a white board, where they update estimated arrival time with a pen. One local lady told me, that she always called the station first, instead of showing up unnecessarily. I learned it the hard way, when all my plans got messed up.
Just like many things in life, my cycling wasn’t terribly exiting every single day. There were days, when it was breathtakingly beautiful, other days it was merely pleasant, and a time or two it was just a way of getting from point A to point B with no much anything interesting in between. So far I consider the trip from Ratchaburi to Amphawa to be the jewel in my cycling crown.
Cycling Thailand gave me a good opportunity to see a lot of places along the way – big cities, small town, tiny villages. Every night I stayed in a different place. There is no point to write a post about every single place I visited, so I’m just going to make a compilation about things, that impressed me most.
